East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA)

Meridian, MS

EMEPA’s corporate headquarters is located in Meridian, Miss. on Hwy 39 North between 22nd and 23rd avenues in the former Broadhead Equity Building. The original building was constructed in 1971. In 2011, major renovations to the building were completed. The newly renovated facility is a one story, 12,588 square foot office building that houses a state of the art boardroom and storm safe room.

During renovation, the building received a new pitched roof with raised eave heights providing for increased ceiling heights on the interior and covered walkways to the entrances on the exterior. Also, barrel roofs were added to highlight the new building entrances. The interior was completely gutted allowing for a floor plan tailored to suit EMEPA’s needs.  New finishes, doors, and windows were provided throughout giving the sense that this is a totally new building. A courtyard and private parking were added to improve the site features as well. New mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and information technology systems were provided as a part of the renovation.

The exterior finish scheme consists of standing seam metal roof panels, painted brick veneer, unpainted “old south” brick columns and details, aluminum storefront, EIFS (exterior insulated finish system), and steel fencing. The interior finish scheme consists of gypsum board, wood wainscot, pickled wood ceilings, acoustical ceiling tiles, carpet, and hard tile flooring.
